Dr. Jamie Augustus Singleton grew up in rural McClellanville, South Carolina 30 miles, north of Charleston. She matriculated through the public-school system there where she graduated valedictorian from Lincoln High School. She went on to attend Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Mathematics in 2001.
After college, Dr. Singleton spent a year as a paralegal assistant at a prestigious law firm in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina and another year as a high school math teacher at Parkwood High School in Monroe, North Carolina. In 2003, she started medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. She successfully matriculated through and graduated with her Doctorate of Medicine in 2009. She then went on to complete her pediatric residency at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando, Florida. In her limited, but oh so precious, spare time, Dr. Singleton enjoys working out and traveling the US and abroad with her family and friends. She also is active in her church and does speaking engagements around the South Carolina Low Country. Dr. Singleton also enjoys baking, although she doesn’t do much of it, because she has no one to help her eat it. She hopes to one day be married with children.
